Making Tax Digital
Making Tax Digital is a government initiative designed to make it easier for individuals and businesses to get their tax right and to keep on top of their tax-related affairs.
With the ambition to become ‘one of the most digitally advanced tax administrations in the world’, HMRC are using software to make tax more effective, more efficient and easier for taxpayers to get their tax right.
Compatible with multiple different accountancy software types, you can submit MTD Returns directly to HMRC without needing to visit the HMRC website.

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
From April 2026, sole traders and landlords will be required to keep digital records for Income Tax purposes, and make quarterly submissions to HMRC using MTD-compliant software.
From April 2026, sole traders and landlords with a combined qualifying income over £50,000 must comply with new MTD rules.
This threshold will be lowered to £30,000 from April 2027, and further to £20,000 from April 2028.
The new MTD rules require sole traders and landlords to keep all records digitally and submit quarterly updates alongside a Final Declaration.
